Settings & Preferences

How to configure your language, country, safe search, and other search preferences on GOOD Search.

About GOOD SearchSet up GOODHelp CenterLegal
Privacy PolicyTerms of ServiceContact

Your search preferences let you control how GOOD Search behaves — which provider to use, what language to search in, and more. Settings are saved to your account and apply across all your devices.

Open your preferences via Settings → Search Preferences.

Search provider

Choose which search index your results come from. GOOD Search (default) offers the full feature set. Mojeek and Staan provide alternative independent indexes for web search.

About the different providers

Country

Bias results toward a specific country. For example, setting your country to Germany will return pages more likely to be relevant to German users. This affects the results, not the language of the interface.

Search language

The language of pages returned in results. Set this if you want results primarily in a specific language regardless of your location.

Safe search

Controls whether explicit content is filtered:

  • Strict — filters explicit and suggestive content
  • Moderate (default) — filters clearly explicit content
  • Off — no filtering

Date range / freshness

Limit results to a recent time window. Useful for news, software updates, or any fast-moving topic:

  • Past 24 hours
  • Past week
  • Past month
  • Past year
  • Custom date range

Units

Switch between metric and imperial for unit conversions and distance display. Available when using the GOOD Search provider.

Location sharing

The Local search tab can use your location to find nearby places. Location sharing is always opt-in — you enable it per search by clicking the pin icon, and your coordinates are used only for that search and never stored.

You can also type a place name in the Where field instead of sharing your GPS position.

Account settings

Account-level settings — your email address, password, and subscription — are managed separately at Settings → Account.
